In the early morning hours of June 11, 2020, the life of 48-year-old Dornell Waushi Chavous was tragically cut short in Portsmouth, Virginia. Emergency services received a call around 6:47 a.m. and responded to the 1100 block of Mount Vernon Avenue. Upon arrival, they discovered Chavous suffering from a gunshot wound to his torso. Despite the efforts of the paramedics who arrived at the scene, he was pronounced dead.
