On September 7, 2023, 19-year-old Cameron James Duskin of Cincinnati, Ohio, was fatally shot during an attempted robbery in Fairfield. Authorities discovered Duskin deceased inside a vehicle that had collided with a semi-trailer in the rear parking lot of 4605 Dixie Highway, the location of a Goodwill store. The Butler County Coroner's Office confirmed that Duskin died from gunshot wounds, ruling his death a homicide.
