In the early morning hours of August 7, 2020, the life of 30-year-old Darius D. Clark was tragically cut short in the Norview section of Norfolk, Virginia. A Black male known affectionately to friends and family as 'Diesel,' Clark was discovered suffering from a gunshot wound on Edward Street after police responded to a call at approximately 2:10 a.m.
He was rushed to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital with life-threatening injuries, but ultimately succumbed to his wounds later that day.
Darius, born on February 16, 1990, was a man with deep roots in his community. Raised by his paternal grandparents, he attended Norview High School and was an employee of 7-11 stores. Beyond his work, he was an aspiring hip-hop artist with a profound love for music. His creative spirit also found an outlet in his faith as a member of the Norfolk Deliverance Church, where he had once sung in the children's choir. Those who knew him remembered a cheerful and bright personality that left a lasting impact on his family and friends.
The investigation into Darius D. Clark's death remains ongoing, and the circumstances that led to the fatal shooting are still unclear. To date, the Norfolk Police Department has not publicly identified any suspects or determined a motive for the homicide. No arrests have been made in connection with the case.
