On November 13, 2022, Mark Maurice Ray, a 23-year-old resident of Newport News, Virginia, was tragically shot and killed. The incident occurred around 3:40 p.m. in the first block of Traverse Road, near J. Clyde Morris Boulevard. According to reports, Ray was walking when he was shot multiple times. When officers arrived at the scene, they found him suffering from gunshot wounds, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
