A Black male, Barnes was found with fatal injuries in the parking lot of the Sterling King Apartments on Washington Street in Portsmouth, Virginia. The incident, which occurred around 1 a.m., prompted a response from the Portsmouth Police Department after they received reports of gunshots.
Upon their arrival, they discovered Barnes, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
