On March 17, 2024, at approximately 2:15 a.m., Portsmouth Police responded to reports of a shooting in the 2400 block of Chestnut Street. Upon arrival, officers discovered 29-year-old Damarcus Dildy with fatal gunshot wounds; he was pronounced dead at the scene.
