In the late evening hours of a Thursday in Portsmouth, Virginia, the life of 41-year-old James Rockett III came to a tragic and abrupt end. On June 29, 2023, Portsmouth Police Department officers were dispatched to the 600 block of Dunedin Road, a residential area just off Portsmouth Boulevard. There, they discovered Mr. Rockett, a male, who had sustained a fatal gunshot wound. Despite the immediate response from law enforcement, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
