In the spring of 2016, the life of 55-year-old Angel Luis Soltero was tragically cut short in Camden, New Jersey. Known affectionately as 'Guiro,' he passed away suddenly on the evening of April 1, 2016, at Cooper University Hospital. A beloved father, grandfather, and fiancé, his death left a significant void in the lives of his family and community.
On that Friday evening, at approximately 8:30 p.m., Camden County police responded to a 911 call reporting a shooting at the intersection
of 9th and Trenton streets. Upon their arrival, they discovered Soltero suffering from a gunshot wound. He was quickly transported to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Investigators determined that Soltero's vehicle had been stolen from the scene of the shooting. The car, which he often used to give rides to his neighbors, was later discovered intact and abandoned in the Parkside neighborhood of the city. Despite a reward being offered for information that would lead to an arrest and conviction, no suspects have been publicly identified, and no arrests have been made in connection with the homicide. The motive behind the deadly shooting remains unclear.
Soltero was remembered as a devoted family man to his three children and two grandchildren, and as a kind-hearted individual always willing to help others in his community.
