On the evening of May 17, 2022, in Camden, New Jersey, a burst of violence cut short the life of 36-year-old Mark Virgile. The male victim, a resident of Philadelphia, was discovered inside a vehicle in a parking lot at 1 East Randolph Street around 8:20 p.m. He was unconscious and suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
Emergency medical services were dispatched to the scene and quickly transported Virgile to Cooper University Hospital.
Despite the efforts of medical personnel, he was pronounced dead at 8:46 p.m. The tranquility of the evening was further shattered when a second victim, a 35-year-old man also from Philadelphia, arrived at the same hospital in a private vehicle. He too had sustained multiple gunshot wounds in the same incident and was listed in critical condition.
The Camden County Prosecutor's Office Homicide Unit and the Camden County Police Department launched a cooperative investigation into the double shooting. Authorities have appealed to the public for any information that might lead to the apprehension of those responsible for this fatal shooting. As of the immediate reports following the incident, no suspects have been named, and no arrests have been made in connection with the case.
