Summary based on 5 sources
On a Saturday evening, September 10, 2016, Rasheed Omar Hines, a 29-year-old man, was riding his bicycle through a Pleasantville, New Jersey neighborhood. As he reached the intersection of Merrion and Linden Avenues, a vehicle appeared, and an assailant jumped out, opening fire. Hines was struck multiple times and, despite the arrival of emergency responders, he succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

The investigation into the shooting led authorities to Robert Terrell, a 33-year-old man from Pleasantville. Investigators determined that Terrell was the driver of the vehicle from which the gunman emerged to shoot Hines. His arrest marked a significant development in a case that had brought concern to the local community.

In April 2018, Robert Terrell pleaded guilty to first-degree conspiracy to commit murder for his role in the death of Rasheed Hines. He was subsequently sentenced to 12 years in state prison. Under the terms of his sentence, he is required to serve at least 85% of his term before being eligible for parole. Despite his conviction, a crucial piece of the puzzle remains missing. Terrell has consistently refused to cooperate with investigators to reveal the identity of the person who actually fired the shots that killed Hines. Consequently, the shooter has never been apprehended, and that aspect of the case remains unresolved.
