On a late summer evening in Pleasantville, New Jersey, the life of 18-year-old Byron Jones was tragically cut short. The young Black man, a father to a daughter who was nearing her first birthday, was fatally shot on the night of September 1, 2020. Around 10:14 p.m., the sound of gunfire prompted a 911 call, leading Pleasantville police to the 300 block of Edgeley Avenue. There, they found Jones suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
