On a cold December evening in 2014, the life of a young man was tragically cut short in a burst of gunfire. Bilal Salaam, a 21-year-old Black man from Galloway Township, was in Pleasantville, New Jersey, on the evening of Thursday, December 11th. At approximately 8:29 PM, the sound of gunshots echoed near the corner of Seagrass Cove and Ridgewood Avenue, a quiet residential area.
