In the late hours of a summer evening in Pleasantville, New Jersey, the sound of gunfire shattered the night's quiet. On June 30, 2014, police responded to reports of shots fired around 9:49 p.m. in the area of Woodland and Hendricks Avenues. Behind a home on the 200 block of Hendricks Avenue, they discovered the body of 28-year-old Ahmad Molley, a Black male from Pleasantville. He had sustained a fatal gunshot wound.
Several homes in the vicinity were also struck by bullets, painting a chaotic and dangerous scene.
Emergency services transported Molley to the AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center—City Campus, but his life could not be saved, and he was pronounced dead at the hospital. The Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office Major Crimes Unit was called to the scene to lead the investigation into the homicide. Despite their efforts, the case has grown cold over the years. No arrests have ever been made in connection with the shooting, and no suspects have been publicly identified.
