In the late summer of 2016, a sequence of events unfolded in Trenton, New Jersey, that culminated in the tragic death of 19-year-old Lance Beckett. A Black male, Beckett was lured into an alley on East Stuyvesant Avenue on the afternoon of September 18, 2016, under deceptive pretenses. There, in the city's West Ward, his life was violently cut short.
