An 18-year-old male, Stephon Aaron Fisher Jr., a resident of Trenton, New Jersey, tragically lost his life on the evening of Sunday, May 19, 2024. The young man was a student in the HVAC Program within the Hamilton Township School District and was on the verge of graduating from high school. Known for his infectious smile and kind heart, he had a passion for music and was always eager to share his talent with others.

On that fateful evening, at approximately 5:52 p.m., the Trenton police responded to a ShotSpotter activation for multiple rounds fired and several calls reporting a shooting in the vicinity of 2 Kingsbury Square. Upon their arrival, officers discovered two 18-year-old males suffering from gunshot wounds. Both victims were transported to Capital Health Regional Medical Center for treatment. Shortly after his arrival at the hospital, Stephon Fisher was pronounced dead. The second victim, also a resident of the city, sustained three gunshot wounds but was reported to be in stable condition.

In the wake of the shooting, an investigation was launched by the Mercer County Homicide Task Force and the Trenton Police Department. These efforts led to the identification of a suspect, 29-year-old Jozef Field of Trenton. On a Monday following the incident, members of the U.S. Marshals New York/New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force apprehended Field at the Kingsbury Apartments. He has since been charged with one count of first-degree murder, two counts of first-degree attempted murder, two counts of second-degree aggravated assault, and various weapons offenses. Following his arrest, the Mercer County Prosecutor's Office filed a motion to detain him pending trial.
