In the early morning hours of July 3, 2017, Clintonia Walker, a 48-year-old Black female, was found shot on the 300 block of 6th Avenue in Newark, New Jersey. The incident occurred at approximately 3:08 a.m. when police responded to the scene and discovered Walker suffering from a gunshot wound to her neck. She was also known by the nickname 'Penny'.
Emergency medical services arrived and quickly transported Walker to University Hospital for treatment.
Despite the efforts of medical staff, she was pronounced dead at 3:54 a.m. Her death was ruled a homicide and is being investigated by the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide/Major Crimes Task Force in conjunction with the Newark Police Department.
Authorities have confirmed that the investigation into Walker’s murder is both active and ongoing. However, to date, no arrests have been made in connection with the fatal shooting. Officials have not publicly released information regarding a possible motive or any potential suspects. The case remains unsolved as law enforcement continues to seek evidence and identify the person or persons responsible for her death.
