In the early morning hours of August 21, 2018, a burst of gunfire shattered the quiet of a Newark, New Jersey street, tragically ending the life of 26-year-old Michelle Newkirk. A resident of Newark, she was a passenger in the back of a vehicle driving on Norwood Street at approximately 2:11 a.m. when the shots were fired. Struck by the gunfire, Newkirk was rushed to University Hospital.
