On April 16, 2024, at approximately 12:30 a.m., Natasha Ellis, 34, of Newark, New Jersey, was fatally shot near South Orange Avenue and Alexander Street in the city's Vailsburg section. The incident was detected by a ShotSpotter device, which alerted authorities to the gunfire.
