In the winter of 2019 in Newark, New Jersey, the life of 16-year-old Jayla Green was tragically cut short. A Black/African American female, Jayla was a high school student known for her love of music, fashion, and cheerleading. On the evening of Saturday, January 26, 2019, she attended a candlelight vigil near Bergen Street and Madison Avenue.
