On July 25, 2014, 26-year-old Olatag Filimoni was fatally shot while sitting with friends outside a residence in the 3200 block of Baltic Avenue in Long Beach, California. The shooting occurred around 11:00 p.m. when a vehicle drove by, and an occupant opened fire, striking Filimoni in the torso. He was transported to a local hospital in critical condition but ultimately succumbed to his injuries on July 28, 2014.
