Xavier Roberson, a 31-year-old African American male, was tragically killed on March 8, 2021, in Houston, Texas. Known by his stage name "Obe Noir," Roberson was a well-regarded rapper and former professional basketball player. The incident occurred around 3:45 a.m. on Fannin Street near Rosalie, where witnesses reported hearing gunshots and seeing Roberson running down the street.
A car began circling around him, and two suspects, identified as Black males, exited the vehicle and shot him multiple times. The suspects then fled the scene, leaving Roberson to be discovered by the driver of a white vehicle who immediately called 911. Roberson was pronounced dead at the scene.
Roberson's death has left his family and friends devastated. His mother, Melissa Roberson, expressed her anguish and desire for answers, stating that she could not imagine someone chasing her son down and murdering him. Xavier Roberson was a talented individual who had a passion for music and basketball. He attended Jack Yates High School, where he was a McDonald's All-American nominee, and later played college basketball for Texas Christian University and the University of South Alabama. He also played professionally overseas while pursuing his music career under the name Obe Noir.
The investigation into Roberson's murder is ongoing, and the Houston Police Department has urged anyone with information to come forward. Crime Stoppers has offered a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to the arrest and charging of the suspects responsible for his death. Despite the efforts of law enforcement, no arrests have been made, and the suspects remain at large. Roberson's family continues to seek justice and closure for the loss of their beloved son, father, and friend.
