In the late hours of a Friday night in Trenton, New Jersey, the life of 26-year-old Jibri Chisholm was tragically cut short. On September 14, 2018, just before midnight, gunfire erupted on Bond Street, near Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard. When police arrived, they found Chisholm suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, including to his head and abdomen. Another man, also 26 years old, was found at the scene with a non-life-threatening graze wound to his hip.
Both men were rushed to a nearby hospital for medical attention.
Despite the efforts of medical professionals, Jibri Chisholm succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead shortly after arriving at the hospital. The investigation into the shooting quickly pointed to a motive rooted in a dispute over money. According to court documents, Chisholm allegedly owed $600 for marijuana to a man named Stephan P. Green. It is believed that a meeting was arranged that night under the pretense of Green supplying more marijuana to an associate of Chisholm.
The investigation led by the Mercer County Homicide Task Force resulted in the arrest of a suspect. Stephan P. Green, a 30-year-old convicted felon also known as 'Chop,' was taken into custody by the U.S. Marshals NY/NJ Regional Fugitive Task Force at a hotel in South Brunswick. Green was subsequently charged with murder, attempted murder, and related weapons offenses in connection with the fatal shooting of Jibri Chisholm and the injury of the second individual.
