In the early evening of June 1, 2016, a sense of tragic familiarity descended upon a Trenton, New Jersey, family. Elvin Grimsley, a 38-year-old Black male, was sitting in his car near the intersection of Whittaker Avenue and Elmer Street when he was fatally shot. The incident occurred at approximately 6:30 p.m., leaving the community reeling from another act of gun violence.
