In the winter of 2023, a quiet Trenton, New Jersey, apartment building became the scene of a tragic discovery. On the afternoon of January 16th, police were called to a residence in the 100 block of South Overbrook Avenue to check on an unresponsive male. Inside, they found 29-year-old Donnell Williams, a Black man, lying on his living room floor, having sustained a fatal gunshot wound.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The initial shock of the discovery soon gave way to an intensive investigation led by the Mercer County Homicide Task Force and the Trenton Police Department. Their efforts quickly focused on two brothers, Leon Mack, 31, of Hamilton, and Prince Mack, 29, of Trenton. Within days of Williams's death, both men were apprehended by law enforcement.
Investigators alleged that Leon Mack was responsible for the murder and also charged him with burglary and multiple weapons offenses. His younger brother, Prince Mack, faced the same charges, identified as an accomplice who allegedly drove his brother to Williams's home. The swift arrests brought a sense of resolution to the immediate aftermath of the crime, as the two brothers were taken into custody to await trial for their alleged roles in the untimely death of Donnell Williams.
