Known affectionately as 'El Cohete' in the local amateur baseball leagues for his pitching skills, his vibrant presence was a recent but impactful addition to the Dominican community in the area.
On the evening of Christmas Eve, what should have been a time of festive anticipation turned into a scene of violence. Inside an apartment at 200 Walnut Avenue, near the corner of Chambers Street, a dispute allegedly motivated by a rivalry over a woman escalated with fatal consequences. Neighbors reported hearing a gunshot and alerted the Trenton Police Department. When officers arrived, they discovered Rodriguez grievously wounded by a gunshot to the head.
He was rushed to a nearby hospital, but the injury proved to be mortal.
