In the late hours of a February evening in Trenton, New Jersey, the life of 45-year-old Shawn Moore was tragically cut short. On February 28, 2024, police responded to a report of a shooting at a residence on Ardmore Avenue. Upon their arrival shortly before 8 p.m., they discovered Mr. Moore unresponsive on the porch, having sustained a fatal gunshot wound to the chest.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The investigation into the shooting was a collaborative effort between the Mercer County Homicide Task Force and the Trenton Police Department. Their work led to the identification of a suspect, 38-year-old Chelsey White, also a resident of Trenton. An arrest was made on a Sunday evening in Branchburg by the U.S. Marshals New York/New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force.
Following his apprehension, Chelsey White was charged with first-degree murder and several weapons-related offenses. The Mercer County Prosecutor's Office filed a motion to detain him pending trial, ensuring he would remain in custody. While an arrest has been made, the investigation remains ongoing as authorities continue to piece together the circumstances that led to the death of Shawn Moore.
