In the early morning hours of a cold December day in Trenton, New Jersey, the life of 39-year-old Patrick V. Walker was tragically cut short. On December 13, 2014, outside the La Guira Bar near the corner of North Clinton Avenue and Poplar Street, gunfire erupted, leaving Walker with multiple gunshot wounds. He was rushed to a nearby hospital but ultimately succumbed to his injuries.
The incident marked the second fatal shooting to occur outside that same establishment within the year.
The investigation into Walker's death led authorities to 22-year-old Anthony Concepcion. A warrant was issued for his arrest, and he was eventually located and apprehended by the U.S. Marshals Florida Regional Fugitive Task Force at a hotel in Altamont Springs, Florida. Concepcion was extradited back to New Jersey to face charges for the murder of Patrick V. Walker.
After years of legal proceedings, which included a mistrial due to a jury error, Anthony Concepcion pleaded guilty to a lesser charge of first-degree aggravated manslaughter. In December 2018, he was sentenced to 12 years in prison for his role in Walker's death. At the time of the shooting, Concepcion had been out on bail for a separate weapons charge.
