In the winter of 2016, a house on Woodrow Avenue in Flint, Michigan, became the scene of a grim discovery that cut short the life of 60-year-old John Naum. On December 17th, emergency crews responded to a fire at the residence. Inside, they found the bodies of John and two other individuals, Kenneth Curler and Tiffany Loisell. The initial horror of the house fire soon gave way to a more sinister truth as autopsies revealed that all three victims had been shot to death before the fire was
intentionally set to consume the evidence and the lives within.
The investigation into the triple homicide led authorities to 27-year-old Tyree Jamaul Culberson of Mount Morris. Investigators alleged that Culberson had been living at the Woodrow Avenue house and was involved in selling drugs from the location. The motive for the brutal slayings was believed to be drug-related, with Tiffany Loisell being the primary target of a dispute concerning stolen money, drugs, and a firearm. John Naum and Kenneth Curler were tragically caught in the violent fallout of this conflict.
Culberson was subsequently arrested and faced a litany of serious charges, including three counts of first-degree premeditated murder, first-degree arson, and several weapons and drug offenses. The legal proceedings that followed painted a grim picture of the events that transpired, with witness testimony placing Culberson at the scene and connecting him to the drug activities that were believed to be at the heart of the deadly encounter.
