A dispute between coworkers at a Detroit barbershop on Thursday, June 28, 2018, tragically ended the life of Leon Webb, a 36-year-old male barber. The day began like any other at The Final Kut barbershop on Seven Mile and Littlefield, but a verbal argument between Webb and his colleague, Jamar Levon Woodmore, escalated into a physical altercation outside the shop.
After the fight, which Webb reportedly won, both men went back inside. However, the conflict was far from over for Woodmore.
It is alleged that the 29-year-old from Plymouth went to his car, retrieved a handgun, and returned to the barbershop. In a devastating turn of events, Woodmore is accused of fatally shooting Webb. At the time of the shooting, Webb was attending to a child in his barber chair. Witnesses and family members have stated that Webb's final act was to shield the young boy from the gunfire. Webb was transported to a local hospital but succumbed to his injuries.
In the days following the shooting, an outpouring of grief and support came from Webb's family and the community. They gathered for a vigil outside the barbershop to honor the man they remembered as a loving father, brother, and son. His family described the immense loss of a man who was cherished.
The man accused of the senseless act of violence, Jamar Levon Woodmore, did not remain at large for long. He turned himself in to the authorities over the weekend following the incident. Woodmore was subsequently charged with first-degree murder, carrying a concealed weapon, being a felon in possession of a firearm, and felony firearm. He was arraigned and held at the Wayne County Jail without bond, with a probable cause hearing scheduled for July 17 of that year.
