A student at Eastpointe High School, Shawn was just weeks away from the celebrated milestone of graduation, a moment of pride and accomplishment that he would never get to experience.
The morning of his death
began like any other. Shawn left his home around 10:30 a.m., driving his black 2019 Volkswagen Jetta with tinted windows. He was on his way to meet his girlfriend, a routine part of his day before heading to work. Tragically, he never made it. At approximately 11:11 a.m., Detroit police responded to a call of shots fired in the 1300 block of Tacoma. There, they found Shawn, fatally wounded. Later that afternoon, around 2 p.m., his family received the devastating news that their beloved son and brother was gone.
In the wake of this senseless act, Shawn's family has been left with a void that can never be filled. His sisters have publicly pleaded for anyone with information to come forward, remembering him as a happy young man with a big smile. They, along with the rest of his family, are desperate for answers and justice for a life taken too soon. A cash reward of up to $2,500 has been offered by Crime Stoppers for any information that leads to an arrest in the case, a testament to the community's desire to help bring closure to Shawn's loved ones.
Despite the passage of time and the ongoing investigation by the Detroit Police Department, no suspects have been publicly identified, and no arrests have been made in connection with Shawn Ewing's murder.
