In the evening hours of September 8, 2021, a burst of gunfire shattered the peace on Grandville Street in Detroit, leading to the tragic death of 26-year-old Dajon Williams. Williams, a male resident of Detroit, was inside his vehicle when an assailant unleashed a volley of shots, striking him. Despite his grave injuries, Williams managed to drive away from the scene, seeking help at a nearby gas station on Joy Road.
By the time Detroit police officers arrived at the gas station around
8:48 p.m., they discovered a grim scene. Williams' vehicle was obstructing the entrance, and inside, he was found unresponsive and bleeding. Medics were called to the location, but it was too late; Dajon Williams was pronounced deceased at the scene. The incident drew public attention and was announced by the McFall Brothers Funeral Home.
The investigation into the homicide led to the arrest of a 17-year-old male from Detroit. In October 2021, the Wayne County Prosecutor's Office formally charged the teenage suspect with a string of serious offenses, including one count of First-Degree Murder. The additional charges included Assault with Intent to Murder, Carrying with Unlawful Intent, Carrying a Concealed Weapon, and three counts of Felony Firearm. The suspect was arraigned in the 36th District Court on October 23, 2021, and a Probable Cause Conference was scheduled for the following month.
