In September 2016, family and friends of Hallie Bullard grew concerned when they were unable to get in touch with the 26-year-old woman. A friend went to her home in Indianapolis on September 9th to check on her and made a tragic discovery. Bullard was found deceased in her bedroom, bringing a somber end to the worried search.
When officers from the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department arrived at the residence on Rybolt Avenue, they initially noted no obvious signs of trauma.
However, the scene inside the home hinted at a deeper story of conflict. In the living room, framed photographs of Bullard and her new girlfriend were found broken on the sofa. This detail would later become a significant piece of the investigative puzzle. Following an autopsy, the Marion County Coroner's Office determined that Bullard's death was a homicide caused by a stab wound.
The investigation into Hallie Bullard's death quickly focused on her ex-boyfriend, Bobby Joe Glasscock. It was revealed that Bullard had an active protective order against him at the time of her murder and had been trying to keep her new address a secret from him. Witnesses stated that Glasscock was upset about her new relationship. The evening before her body was discovered, Bullard and Glasscock had been communicating via social media. Surveillance footage from a nearby home captured a truck, later identified as Glasscock's, parking down the street from Bullard's home in the early morning hours of September 9th. A man matching Glasscock's description was seen exiting the vehicle, approaching Bullard's residence, and then returning to his truck and leaving a short time later.
Forensic evidence played a crucial role in cementing the case against Glasscock. DNA evidence collected from underneath Bullard's fingernails, as well as blood found at the scene of the crime, was a match to Bobby Joe Glasscock's DNA profile. Following a three-day jury trial, Glasscock was convicted of murder and invasion of privacy. In November 2021, he was sentenced to 63 years in the Indiana Department of Correction for the murder of Hallie Bullard. The prosecutor in the case highlighted the tragic connection between domestic violence and homicide, emphasizing that the verdict sent a clear message that such senseless violence would not be tolerated in the community.
