On the morning of July 8, 2024, at approximately 9 a.m., Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officers responded to reports of a shooting in the 7700 block of Portage Avenue, located on the city's south side. Upon arrival, they discovered 26-year-old Aaron Shawn "Cheeks" McClinton suffering from a gunshot wound. He was promptly transported to a local hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
