Tyreana Lanae Terrell, a 21-year-old African American woman, was fatally shot during an early morning altercation in Indianapolis, Indiana. The incident occurred on July 9, 2024, at a Marathon gas station located in the 4700 block of West 56th Street, near the intersection with Georgetown Road on the city’s northwest side. Officers from the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department responded to reports of a person shot around 1:40 a.m.
Upon their arrival, they discovered Terrell suffering from a gunshot wound to her upper back.
Despite suffering critical injuries, Terrell was reportedly awake and breathing when first responders arrived at the scene. She was transported to a local hospital for emergency medical treatment but unfortunately succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead shortly after. The Marion County Coroner’s Office ruled her death a homicide. Family members described Terrell, affectionately known as 'TeTe,' as a vibrant young woman and a devoted mother to her three-year-old son, Alegend. Investigators determined that the shooting stemmed from a fight or disturbance at the gas station involving Terrell and at least one other individual.
Detectives with the IMPD homicide unit utilized surveillance footage and witness accounts to identify a suspect in the case. Approximately a week after the shooting, police announced the arrest of 22-year-old Kobe Bond in connection with Terrell's death. Bond was taken into custody and identified as the alleged shooter responsible for the fatal wound. The investigation revealed that the violence escalated from a dispute at the scene, which abruptly ended Terrell's life. Following the arrest, Terrell's mother expressed relief that a suspect had been apprehended, though the family continued to grieve the senseless loss.
