On a Tuesday morning in Indianapolis, a dispute on the road escalated into a tragedy that claimed the life of 31-year-old Brandy Brock. The incident, which unfolded on September 11, 2018, began as a case of road rage in the 6000 block of East 38th Street. Brock was a passenger in a vehicle driven by Andrew Holder when an exchange with another driver turned violent.
According to witnesses, both drivers were maneuvering aggressively, exchanging gestures as they sped through traffic.
The situation reached a critical point when both cars stopped at a traffic light. Holder reportedly reached out of his window and fired a gun at the car behind them. The other driver retaliated, stepping partially out of his vehicle and firing back. A single bullet penetrated the trunk of Holder's car, passed through the back and front seats, and struck Brandy Brock.
In a desperate attempt to get her help, Holder drove Brock to Indianapolis Fire Station 10 on Sherman Drive. Firefighters, alerted by the sound of a car horn, found a critically wounded Brock and brought her inside to render aid. Despite their efforts, she was transported to a local hospital where she succumbed to her injuries.
In the aftermath, Andrew Holder was charged with criminal recklessness and carrying a handgun without a license. Prosecutors reviewed the case and considered the actions of the other driver, who called 911 after the incident, to be a potential act of self-defense, and he did not face any charges.
