Death by Force

On January 2, 2023, Daniel Berry, 26, and his half-brother, 17-year-old Jamil Thornton, were fatally shot by their 29-year-old cousin inside a residence on Detroit's east side. The tragic incident occurred in the 2900 block of Bewick near Charlevoix. Thornton was pronounced dead at the scene, while Berry was transported to a nearby hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
