Cortez McCoy, aged 56, tragically lost his life on July 14, 2014, in Detroit, Michigan. The circumstances surrounding his death were violent, as he was shot while standing near his car. This incident also resulted in injuries to Jermaine Bryant, who was shot in the shoulder but survived.
