John F. Daley, a 29-year-old police officer with the Detroit Police Department, tragically lost his life on November 17, 1904. Officer Daley was shot and killed by two burglars on Michigan Avenue near Wayne Street. The incident occurred while he was on duty, and another individual, railroad Detective H. N. Pickell, was also critically wounded as he came to Daley's aid.
