Death by Force

Jonathan Sanders, a 39-year-old Black man, died on July 8, 2015, in Stonewall, Mississippi, following an encounter with police officer Kevin Herrington. Sanders was exercising his horse when he encountered Herrington, who was speaking to another man at a gas station. Herrington reportedly told Sanders to stop bothering the man, and later caught up with Sanders, startling his horse. This led to a physical altercation during which Herrington allegedly choked Sanders for over 20 minutes.
