In the winter of 2022, the life of 30-year-old Nickolas Jazz Norwood, a male resident of Tulsa, Oklahoma, was tragically cut short. On the morning of January 11th, a concerned neighbor discovered the door to Norwood's apartment ajar and upon entering to check on him, found him deceased. Responding to the call, Tulsa police noted that there were signs of blunt force trauma, and it was later confirmed that Norwood had been shot and killed in his own living room.
The grim discovery marked the city's third homicide of the year.
The investigation into Norwood's death quickly pointed to a brother and sister duo, Rashawn Graham and Lilie Crawford. According to law enforcement, messages found on Norwood's phone indicated that he had arranged a drug deal with Crawford, which involved a substantial amount of money, the day before his body was found. This transaction is believed to have been the motive for the violent encounter that followed. Within days of the murder, warrants were issued for the arrest of both Graham and Crawford. The pair were located and taken into custody in Little Elm, Texas, on charges unrelated to the Tulsa homicide. They were subsequently extradited back to Tulsa to face charges for the death of Nickolas Norwood.
In the ensuing legal proceedings, Lilie Crawford pleaded guilty to charges of first-degree murder and robbery with a firearm for her role in the crime. Her brother, Rashawn Graham, however, chose to fight the charges against him. In a notable development in October 2023, Graham announced his intention to waive his right to legal counsel and represent himself at his upcoming trial. The trial was scheduled to take place in April of the following year, where he would answer to the accusations of his involvement in the murder of Nickolas Norwood.
