MyrShaun Jullian Barnes, a 30-year-old Black male, was fatally shot in Louisville, Kentucky on Tuesday, August 11, 2020. The incident took place in the parking lot of a Kroger grocery store located at 4211 South Third Street in the Wilder Park neighborhood. Louisville Metro Police Department officers responded to the scene shortly before 5 p.m. and found Barnes with multiple gunshot wounds.
Emergency services transported Barnes to the University of Louisville Hospital in critical
condition. Despite medical efforts, he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at 12:17 a.m. on Wednesday, August 12, 2020. The Jefferson County Coroner's Office later confirmed his identity and cause of death.
The Louisville Metro Police Department's Homicide Unit is handling the investigation, which has been classified as a criminal homicide. At this time, no arrests have been made in connection with the shooting, and police have not publicly identified any suspects or a potential motive. The case is considered one of a record number of homicides that occurred in Louisville in 2020.
