In the winter of 2025, the life of 43-year-old Samuel Thruston, a Black male from Louisville, Kentucky, came to a tragic and violent end. For a week, his whereabouts were unknown, prompting a search that concluded in the grim discovery of his body. The Louisville Metro Police Department had been looking for Thruston after he was reported missing.
On the morning of Tuesday, February 18, 2025, police responded to a call in the 1300 block of South 20th Street in the Park Hill neighborhood.
There, they found Thruston, who had been fatally shot. The Jefferson County Coroner's Office later confirmed his identity. Before he was found, Thruston had last been seen in the Parkland neighborhood.
The investigation into his death was immediately taken over by the Louisville Metro Police Department's Homicide Unit. As of now, the case remains an open homicide investigation. Authorities have not publicly identified any suspects or made any arrests in connection with the shooting. The police have appealed to the public for any information that might lead to a breakthrough in the case, encouraging witnesses or those with knowledge of the crime to come forward.
