In the late hours of a Sunday evening in Louisville, Kentucky, tragedy struck in the Russell neighborhood. On May 5, 2024, Jashawn Crook, a 29-year-old African American male, was fatally shot. The incident unfolded around midnight in the 2500 block of West Chestnut Street. Officers from the Louisville Metro Police Department responded to reports of a shooting and, upon their arrival, discovered Crook unresponsive and suffering from gunshot wounds.
