On New Year's Day in 2023, the life of 28-year-old Reginald Speight Jr., a Black male, was tragically cut short in Louisville, Kentucky. The incident unfolded around 9:15 p.m. in the Algonquin neighborhood, specifically in the 1800 block of West Gaulbert Avenue. Louisville Metro Police officers responded to a shooting report and discovered Speight at the scene, having sustained at least one gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the location of the shooting.
