Delmontray Raymont Burch, a 17-year-old Black male from Louisville, Kentucky, was a promising high school basketball player and an enthusiastic gamer and hip-hop artist. Known affectionately as 'Monie' to his family and 'Tray' to his friends, he attended both Iroquois and Western High Schools. His life, however, was tragically cut short on the night of June 30, 2022.
In the Portland neighborhood of Louisville, on the 2500 block of Montgomery Street, Delmontray was discovered with
multiple gunshot wounds. Emergency responders arrived at the scene around 10 p.m., but his injuries were fatal, and he was pronounced dead. The Jefferson County Coroner's Office later confirmed that the cause of death was multiple gunshot wounds.
The Louisville Metro Police Department's Homicide Unit launched an investigation into the shooting. In the weeks following the incident, police had not publicly identified any suspects or made any arrests, and they appealed to the community for any information that might lead to a breakthrough in the case.
