Summary based on 7 sources
In a quiet home in Louisville, Kentucky, the lives of three family members were brought to a tragic end in January 2018. Mike Miles, a 27-year-old man, was found shot to death alongside his wife, Catherine Miles, 24, and his sister, Geneva Miles, 39. The discovery was made on January 12 in their home on Venango Drive in the Pleasure Ridge Park neighborhood. The couple's two young children, a 4-year-old son and a 2-year-old daughter, were found physically unharmed in a separate, closed bedroom within the house.

The investigation quickly focused on Christopher Olivo, who was 46 years old at the time and the father of Geneva's 2-year-old daughter. Olivo and Geneva, along with their daughter, had recently moved to Louisville from Florida and were living with Mike and Catherine. Tensions reportedly existed within the household, with family members stating that Olivo had a history of anger towards Geneva and had even threatened to 'kill everyone in the house' prior to the murders. It is believed the shootings occurred the night before the bodies were discovered, as neighbors reported hearing 'pops' and children screaming on the evening of January 11.

Following the killings, Olivo fled to Florida with his and Geneva's young daughter. Law enforcement was able to track his movements thanks to the OnStar system in the green Chevy Cruze he was driving. He was located in Tampa, Florida, and arrested on January 13. At the time of his arrest, he was found wearing a ballistic vest and had an AK-47 on the passenger seat of the car. He had already dropped his daughter off with relatives before being taken into custody.

Christopher Olivo was extradited back to Kentucky to face three counts of murder, as well as charges for kidnapping and child abuse. Prosecutors have considered seeking the death penalty in his case. Following his arrest, a not guilty plea was entered on his behalf, and his bond was set at $1 million. As of June 2024, a trial date was set for October of that year.
