In the spring of 2021, a burst of gunfire shattered the peace of the Portland neighborhood in Louisville, Kentucky, irrevocably altering the lives of many. On the evening of March 31st, 27-year-old Brandon DeShawn Bell, a Black male, was fatally shot. Another individual was also wounded in the violent encounter, though their identity and condition were not widely reported. The Louisville Metro Police Department quickly descended upon the scene, launching an investigation into the tragic event.
