In the spring of 2017, a man from Louisville, Kentucky, named David Everly, a 65-year-old male, was killed in a violent encounter that police say was connected to a drug deal. The incident occurred on May 16, 2017, inside a residence located in the 3300 block of Taylor Boulevard in the Taylor-Berry neighborhood of Louisville. According to law enforcement, what began as a transaction for narcotics escalated into a fatal robbery.
Authorities investigating the homicide identified two
suspects in connection with the case. The subsequent investigation led to the arrests of Darryl Lavon Hall, who was 28 years old at the time, and his alleged accomplice, Robert Crittenden. According to the indictment, Hall and Crittenden had arranged to meet with Everly under the pretense of a drug deal. However, their intention was to rob him. During the course of the robbery, the situation turned violent, and Everly was shot and killed.
Following the incident, law enforcement officials began a search for the individuals responsible. Robert Crittenden was the first of the two suspects to be apprehended. He was taken into custody in west Louisville on May 22, 2017. A little over a week later, on June 1, 2017, Darryl Lavon Hall was located and arrested in Salem, Indiana, by the Washington County Sheriff's Department. Both men were subsequently charged with murder and armed robbery for their roles in the death of David Everly.
