In the early afternoon of a summer day in Louisville, Kentucky, the life of 21-year-old William M. Hines, a Black male, was abruptly and violently cut short. On June 6, 2023, Hines was driving near the intersection of Cooper Chapel Road and Preston Highway when he was struck by gunfire. The impact of the gunshot caused him to lose control of his vehicle, which then veered off the road and crashed into a swimming pool at The Crossings at Cooper Chapel apartment complex.
