In the warm evening of Sunday, June 19, 2016, the life of 24-year-old Hispanic male Ramon Minjares-Garcia was tragically cut short in Kansas City, Kansas. A citizen of the Mexican state of Chihuahua, Minjares-Garcia was in the 1700 block of Central Avenue when he was struck by multiple gunshots. The motive for the shooting and the circumstances leading up to the fatal encounter remain unclear.
Following the shooting, Minjares-Garcia was privately transported to a local hospital.
Despite the efforts to save him, he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead. The Kansas City, Kansas Police Department launched a homicide investigation into his death, which marked the 14th homicide in the city that year. In the immediate aftermath, detectives began searching for leads and appealed to the public for assistance.
In the initial stages of their investigation, police identified a vehicle of interest: a red, four-door car that may have been involved in the incident.
